Hungarian FinMin to Speak Ahead of Sunday’s Poll

  • A Rzeczpospolita poll published in Poland today shows around 75% of respondents are expected inflation to continue growing and, as a result, are limiting their travel and groceries spending. 61% of respondents have begun limiting their car use, while 41% are now ‘watchful’ over food prices.
  • With the election looming on Sunday this week, the Hungarian finance minister Varga is today due to hold a press conference talking through the success of their economic reset program. Orban continues to hold a lead in opinion polling headed into Sunday’s vote, but the still large portion of the electorate seen as ‘undecided’ keep an element of uncertainty present.
  • Czech coalition leaders are due to be meeting today to talk through possible measures to limit the pass through of energy price rises to consumers. These discussions take place just two days ahead of the Czech CB rate decision, at which the bank are expected to raise rates to 5.00% - a new cycle high.
  • There are no notable data releases across the CEE region Tuesday.
