HUNGARY: Government Spokesperson Defends Approach to Global Trade

Gulyas, head of the Hungarian PM's office, states that recent HUF weakness has been due to middle-east tensions, and the cabinet seeks a stable currency, with less volatility.
Gulyas' comments come alongside recent criticism of the government's approach to sanctions on Chinese EVs - he reiterates that Hungary aims to stay out of "cold trade war" and that the government pursue economic neutrality.
- Gulyas cited estimates that a policy of economic neutrality would help achieve the government's GDP growth target of 3-6%, and added that new budget measures will be submitted as part of the 2025 budget bill set for early November.
