Iberdrola Eyes 2.5GW of Additional Operational Wind capacity by 2026

Spanish Iberdrola's battery storage pipeline for the next five years is over 3GW, with plans to increase its operating offshore wind capacity by around 2.5GW in the next two years, it said.

  • Iberdrola currently has nine storage units in operation, with 3 projects under construction and an additional 7 under development.
  • Its offshore wind operations are expected to increase to 3GW in 2025 compared to 2.3GW today owing to Germany’s 475MW Baltic Eagle and the US 800MW Vineyard wind farm.
  • In 2026, the offshore wind capacity will rise by 1.8GW amid commissioning of the UK’s 1.4GW EA3 and 300MW German Windanker 1.
