Impeachment Panel Could Report Findings as Soon as This Week

  • Fuel prices across both petrol and diesel are expected to lurch higher in December, according to ministerial forecasts, with petrol seen rising by R1.25 per litre and diesel by 60 – 69 cents.
  • The three-person panel investigating claims surrounding criminal activity at President Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala farm could deliver their findings as soon as this week, according to IOL as part of the Section 89 impeachment process. The panel are looking into whether sufficient evidence exists with which to proceed with an inquiry, and will make a recommendation to the national assembly.
  • Former President Zuma, who has backed opposition candidates for December’s elective conference, hit out again at Ramaphosa, accusing the President’s of using money and illegitimate channels to win the ANC Presidency.
  • Load-shedding persists this week, with stage 2 to be implemented every day this week from 4pm to 5am local time.
  • Ramaphosa is today in Egypt and will be addressing the COP27 summit. South Africa’s climate transition plans and requirement of financing from richer nations will likely be the focus.
