India Imports Record Amount of Coal from Russia

  • Kommersant analysed the statements of 37 traded mutual funds focused on investments in foreign assets and found that the value of their net assets in the second quarter amounted to about RUB 50bln having halved since the beginning of the year due to high infrastructure risks.
  • Kommersant also write that India have significantly increased coal and steel purchases from Russia in July and August while analysts have said that exports from Russia will continue to grow on the back of increased demand for steel and high costs for local producers in India. According to the CoalMint agency, imports of Russian coal into the country reached a record 2.3 million tons in August.
