Indian Crude Imports and Oil Product Exports Increase in May

Indian crude oil imports increased slightly from April to 20.04m tons in May and up 2% on the year according to provisional data from the oil ministry’s Petroleum Planning & Analysis Cell.

  • Total oil product imports including LPG, fuel oil and diesel increased to 3.64mn tons, an increase of 10.7% on the month and by 21.2% on the year.
  • Total oil products exports of diesel, gasoline and naptha increased to 5.31m tons, an increase of 21.6% on the month but 6.6% lower on the year.
  • Consumption of fuel in India rose by 9% yr/yr to 20.03m tons in May according to PPAC data earlier this month.
