Indian Oil Demand Growth to Overtake China 2027: IEA

India will soon overtake China as the largest driver of global oil demand according to IEA chief Fatih Birol.

  • "One of the reasons why we say this is that electrification of cars and buses in China is growing rapidly," Birol said.
  • "I very much hope India will move closer in terms of electrification." he added.
  • In its monthly report out earlier, the IEA said about three quarters of the 2022-28 demand growth increase will come from Asia with Indian growth overtaking China by 2027.
