CHINA PRESS: Individual investors will be able to buy and sell local government
debt, as well subscribe to newly issued bonds via designated commercial banks as
soon as next year, Caixin reported on Tuesday.
- This will raise information disclosure requirements for local governments, as
the transparency of local finances has long been criticized by the market, the
report said.
- 90% of the investors in Chinese local gov debts are commercial banks, while
70% of investors in the U.S.'s municipal bond market are individuals, the report
said.
