  • French industrial and manufacturing production contracted in April by -0.1% m/m and -0.4% m/m respectively. This was below the consensus of +0.2% m/m and -0.1% m/m.
  • Manufacturing production remains higher in the past three months than the same period in 2021. Extractive industry production and automotive saw the starkest year-on-year contractions due to high exposure to the semiconductor supply shortages.
  • Supply chain disruptions and soaring energy prices worsened by the Ukraine war have added to declining IP over the past two months.
