Iran Close to Cooperation Contract with Homs Refinery in Syria

REFINING

Iran is close to completing a refining cooperation contract with the Homs refinery in Syria similar to that of Venezuela’s El Palito Refinery, according to Ali Shahverdi.

  • The plan is to expand production of Syria’s Homs oil refinery by 120,000 barrels of oil in its first phase.
  • When all project phases are complete, Iran will be exporting 140,000 barrels from the Homs refinery with the entire additional production from the refinery to exports, the official said.
  • Iran also plans to start redevelopment of Syria’s Banias refinery after the completion of the Homs refinery project.
  • Nicaragua, Cuba, Central Asian states, and South Africa have also requested Iran to build refinery units in these countries, he added.
