Iran Holds Over 70mbbls in Floating Storage

Iran holds 70mbbls or more of crude and condensate in storage ready for release if a nuclear deal is reached according to Kpler and Vortexa.

  • Iranian crude and condensate currently stored on vessels in the Persian Gulf is about 93mbbls according to Kpler and 60-70mbbls according to Vortexa.
  • If a nuclear deal were to be agreed, the oil would be available to the market subject to sorting out insurance and shipping issues as well as setting spot and term sales once sanctions allowed the release.
  • Iran’s production is currently about 2.5-2.6mbpd with Iran recently suggesting oil production capacity will exceed 4mbpd by March 2023.
