Iranian Oil Exports Around 3.57mn bpd: Owji

Iran’s Oil Minister Javad Owji said that the country’s oil output had reached 3.57mn bpd according to Tasnim reports.

  • He said the discounts being paid for its sanctioned barrels were “less than the number of fingers on both hands.”
  • Most of Iran’s barrels head to Chinese independent refiners.
  • Owji said that Iran sells oil to 17 countries, including some in Europe but did not name them.
  • He added that a change in U.S. administration later this year would not cause any issues for Iranian exports.
  • Media reports circulated last year that U.S. officials had been turning a blind eye to Iranian oil exports to ensure more barrels stayed on the market to help pressure global oil prices.
