Iraq Targets Gradual Output Rise to 6.5m b/d by 2028

Iraq is aiming to increase its oil production to 6.5m b/d I 2028, all the while remaining within the limits set by OPEC, according to Basim Dhari Mahmoud, director-general of sectors planning department in the Iraqi planning Ministry.

  • During this time period, Iraq will seek to increase its export capacity to 5.25m b/d.
  • The 2-24-2028 plan includes a refining capacity target of 1.25m b/d, up 77% from the current 0.705m b/d.
