Iraqi Crude Flows to Europe Slip on Red Sea Diversion

OIL

Iraqi crude flows towards Europe are being impacted by Red Sea disruptions according to Vortexa.

  • Europe’s crude imports from Iraq are set to reach ~500kbd in February, flat m/m but nearly 400kbd below the 2023 average.
  • Expected arrivals in March (days 1-25) suggest a 130kbd increase in imports m/m, as rerouted barrels around the Cape of Good Hope started to arrive again as of 20 Feb.
  • The ITP Pipeline issue has also constrained volumes bound for Europe over the last year with Kirkuk flows on the pipeline absent since March 2023.
