Iraqi Oil Flows Resume To Ceyhan Port

OIL

The Iraqi crude pipeline to Turkey's Ceyhan oil export hub resumed flows on Tuesday evening while Azeri crude exports are still stopped according to ship tracking data and sources.

  • The pipeline restarted Tuesday evening 18:45GMT (9:45PM local time), Iraq’s Kurdistan Regional Government said.
  • Tankers were given the green light to berth the oil export terminal to load Iraqi crude oil Tuesday afternoon, after bad weather prevented vessels from berthing.
  • Exports of Azeri crude are still stopped. The Azeri BTC pipeline was still working and sending oil to storage in Ceyhan, industry sources told Reuters.
  • Oil production at the BP-led Azeri–Chirag–Gunashli project in Azerbaijan continues as a result, the sources said.
  • The Alfa Baltica and the Nordlotus tankers were waiting in the area for the Azeri crude BTC terminal at Ceyhan to reopen.
  • The BTC terminal is not expected to resume until 8 or 9 Feb, as the damage at the terminal was still being assessed according to shipping sources.
