The ISM Services PMI ticked up 0.9pt in Sep after declining in the previous month. Sep's increase was led by a sharp rise in New Orders, up 4.7pt after Aug's decrease. Similarly, Employment (+3.9pt) and Business Activity (+0.6pt) edged higher in Sep with Employment shifting above the 50-mark for the first time since Feb. Supplier Deliveries, down 5.6pt, was the only major category to decline. Among all sub-indicators, the Backlog of work saw the largest drop, down 6.5pt to 50.1, after three consecutive increases. Prices fell 5.2pt to 59.0, while Imports and Exports dropped to 46.6 and 52.6, respectively. Inventories and Inventory Sentiment saw monthly gains in Sep, rising to 48.8 and 55.4, respectively.
