Italy 15-year mandate

  • "The Republic of Italy has mandated Barclays Bank Ireland PLC, BNP Paribas, Citibank Europe Plc, Intesa Sanpaolo S.p.A. and Morgan Stanley Europe SE for a new syndicated 15-year BTP due 1st October 2039. The transaction will be launched in the near future subject to market conditions." From market source
  • We expect the transaction to launch tomorrow and look for a size of E5-10bln.
  • We noted the possibility of an Italian syndication this week but thought that next week or the week after were more likely. Prior to the MEF's decision to skip the launch of a new 10-year BTP this week, we had seen the 15-year BTP as the most likely to be launched, but we had also thought that we could see a new 10-year BTP via syndication first.
