Italy Crude Imports from Russia Increased in November

Italy’s imports of crude from Russia, Angola and US increased in November while imports from Libya, Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia all increased according to the latest government data.

  • Russian oil supplied the Lukoil-owned ISAB refinery in Sicily. The plant has been put under trusteeship by the Italian government with previous hopes to sell it before the end of the year. The facility was under threat due to the European embargo on Russian seaborne oil that came into effect on 5 Dec.
  • Total imports to Italy decreased to the lowest since March to 4.9m tons in November from 5.36m tons in October
    • Russia 1.51m up from 1.06m
    • Iraq 691k down from 756k
    • Libya 573k down from 910k
    • Azerbaijan 435k down from 782k
    • Saudi 339k down from 538k
    • US 306k up from 95k tons
    • Angola 303k up from 134k
    • Kazakhstan 152k down from 199k
