Italy's ISAB Make Seek Russian Crude Exemption

Italy is considering asking the EU for a temporary waiver to keep the Lukoil ISAB refinery in Sicily running after the oil ban takes place Dec 5 as it struggles to move away from Russian Urals. The comments were made by Industry Minister Adolfo Urso.

  • “We will discuss with banks whether they are open to finance (Lukoil-owned refinery) ISAB if state agency SACE extends guarantees," he said.
  • Vessel tracking firms identified the refinery as one of the key remaining outlets for crude vessels loading in Russia this month.
