January Economic Activity Data Expected To Decline

  • Economic activity data for January is scheduled shortly and is expected to decline -0.9% Y/y. Disruptions due to social protests should account for most of the sharper decline, remaining a drag in February and ease in March. Transitory disruptions aside, analysts note the results will likely show the negative impact on growth from increasing political instability, tighter monetary policy and waning stimulus measures.
