Japan FinMin Maintains Rhetoric On FX, Yen Steady, Holding Near 150.00

Japan FInMin Suzuki has issued fresh verbal rhetoric on yen, per news wire reports (BBG, RTRS). They are very much in line with recent comments though, "watching FX with a high sense of urgency", "important for forex markets to reflect fundamentals", "the authorities stand ready to respond", "not targeting specific FX levels" etc.

  • USD/JPY hasn't been impacted. We last sit little changed for the session, 149.85/90. Yen is outperforming on crosses, particularly NZD and AUD. Regional equity weakness, led by HK (HSI off ~2.9%) is weighing on the antipodeans.
