Lukoil's Norsi Refinery Restarting Key Units

REFINING

Russia’s Lukoil is restoring operations on the catalytic cracker at its Norsi refinery sources told Reuters on Friday in a move that should restore gasoline production at the facility.

  • The sources said a catalytic cracker unit (KK-2) - idle since the end of September due to planned maintenance - restarted operations after Nov. 19.
  • They said KK-1, which was stopped due to outage on Nov. 13, also began production but below nominal capacity.
  • Reuters reported on the shutdown of the catalytic converter on November 19 but its return was unclear at that point.
  • Lukoil denies there were any shutdowns at the refinery while a resumption in gasoline production coincides with Novak comments earlier on Friday about Russia working on a gasoline export ban lift signaling healthier domestic supply.
