Japan Jul Exports +37.0% Y/Y; 5th Monthly Rise

  • Japan's exports jumped by 37.0% y/y in July, accelerating from the 48.6% y/y growth marked in June, marking the 5th straight monthly rise.
  • Imports reported a sixth straight rise by 28.5% y/y in July, slower than the 32.7% y/y increase last month.
  • Trade balance in July was a surplus of Y441.0 billion, expanding from the previous Y383.1 billion deficit.
  • Exports to the European Union and the United States rose 46.1% y/y and 26.8% y/y respectively, and to China rose 18.9% y/y.
  • Imports from the European Union increased 13.9% y/y, and from the United States and China increased by 24.4% y/y and 12.4% y/y respectively.
