Japan Jul Exports +19.0% Y/Y; 17th Monthly Rise

  • Japan's exports rose for 17th straight month by 19.0% y/y in July, following the 19.4% y/y growth marked in Jun.
  • Imports jumped another 47.2% y/y in July, after rising 46.1% y/y last month, marking the 18 monthly rise.
  • Trade balance in July was a deficit of Y1.44 trillion, expanding from the previous Y1.38 trillion deficit.
  • Exports to the European Union and the United States rose 31.6% y/y and 13.8% y/y respectively, and to China increased 12.8% y/y.
  • Imports from the European Union increased 7.4% y/y, and from the United States and China increased by 46.9% y/y and 34.6% y/y respectively.
