FRANCE: Jean Castex has been appointed as the new French Prime Minister
according to AFP.
- Castex has served as Mayor of Prades since 2008, and was Deputy
Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Republic between 2011 and 2012. Since
April, Castex has headed up the Cabinet's strategy on exiting COVID-19 lockdown.
- Like outgoing PM Philippe, Castex was previously a member of the centre-right
UMP. 
- Appointment of Castex (as opposed to the re-appointment of Philippe) indicates
President Macron's intention to seek to launch a re-branding of his gov't as the
country emerges from COVID-19 lockdown.
