JET FUEL: Europe’s Spot Jet Fuel Prices Fell Last Week: ICIS

Europe’s spot jet fuel prices softened in the week to Sep. 6, according to ICIS.

  • Average European jet fuel cargo spot prices were down 6% on the week, while barge prices fell 5% week on week.
  • Jet fuel prices are likely under pressure due to continued overhang of supply and a lack of demand.
  • Western European jet fuel demand is on a downtrend as the market comes out of the summer travel season.
  • Average implied passenger demand is seen falling 1.38% week-on-week to 1.422m b/d for the seven days commencing Sep. 10, according to Bloomberg.
  • Demand fell 0.32% in the week to Sep. 9 to 1.442m b/d.
  • Meanwhile, global passenger capacity – a proxy for demand – is seen at 109.86m seats in September, up 5.2% on the year.
  • Meanwhile jet fuel stocks in the ARA were stable last week at 972k mt, according to Insights Global.
