Global passenger jet fuel demand is set to rise 0.9% in the week to Dec. 2 to 6.39m b/d, according to BNEF.

  • This marks a U-turn from the previous week’s fall, as airlines prepare for rising passenger numbers across Christmas and New Year.
  • North America is driving the weekly demand gain, up around 64k b/d. This is likely supported by increased travel over Thanksgiving.
  • US daily commercial passenger numbers for Nov. 20-26 rose 9% on the week, offsetting the previous week’s 4% drop, TSA data showed.
  • China’s domestic flight schedules in the week to Dec. 2 are seen down 0.1% on the week. International flight schedules from the main carriers are stable.
