JET FUEL: US Jet Fuel Stocks Climb to Seasonal Record High

US Jet Fuel inventories have climbed not only to their highest level since 2010, but also the highest on record from a seasonal basis

  • This week’s stock build was also the largest in two months, up 1.229m bbl.
  • PADD 5 showed the highest build, up 0.926m bbl, while PADD 3 was up 13k bbl.
  • Only PADD 1 and PADD 4 saw declines, down 0.129k bbl and 8k bbl respectively.
  • Jet production was up 0.8% on the week to 1.842m b/d, while the four-week average was 1.867m b/d, up 4.6% year-on-year.
  • PADD 3 saw a weekly decline in production, down 1.7%.
  • Both exports and imports of jet fuel across the US were down on the week, down by 94k b/d (-28.2%) to 239k b/d and down by 82k b/d (-54.3%) to 69k b/d respectively.
  • Jet fuel demand was also falling, both on the week and the four-week average. Jet fuel demand was 1.497m b/d last week, down 15.1%, while the four-week average was 1.689m b/d, down 2.3% on the year.
