JGBS
JGBS: JGB futures finished the overnight session 2 ticks above Tokyo settlement
levels, around the middle of the contract's overnight range.
- A reminder that we have seen a Nikkei report doing the rounds since
yesterday's close, which points to the government injecting SMEs with ~Y50bn
worth of capital, to help them deal with the impact of COVID-19.
- Elsewhere, the BoJ confirmed that it will hold an unscheduled monetary policy
meeting on Friday, "to discuss monetary control matters, based on the report by
the Bank staff, in response to the instruction by the Chairman at the Monetary
Policy Meeting held on April 27, 2020, on a possible new measure to provide
funds to financial institutions." Such a meeting was heavily telegraphed.
- Core machine orders and 20-Year supply headline the local docket today.
