JPMorgan See Further Temporary Headline CPI Slowdown

  • Argentine monthly inflation slowed to 3.2% in June, but the base effect drove the 12-month figure to 50.2% -- breaching the 50% level for the first time since the pandemic. Goods inflation (3.4% month on month, 57.0% year on year) topped the rise in services prices (2.7%, 36.0%), continuing a long running pattern. (BBG)
  • JPMorgan foresee further temporary headline CPI slowdown in Q3 to 2.6 monthly average, however, renewed inflation pressures are to arise by end of Q4 and in to Q1 '22. They maintain their year-end forecast at 48.6% and continue to flag upside risk to 2022.
