FOREX: JPY and CAD start the week strong as the dollar fails to carry the bulk
of the payrolls-inspired strength over the weekend and trades mixed in early
European trading. Final PMIs from across the Eurozone and US and services PMI
from the UK are the data highlights today, but aren`t expected to jolt prices
too significantly. Markets may take today as an opportunity to consolidate
recent volatility after a data-heavy week last week and ahead of the risk events
over the next five days (Bank of England, Canadian jobs data, speeches from
ECB`s Draghi, Weidmann, Praet, among others). The performance of equity markets
globally are likely to draw far more attention after the DJIA closed lower by
over 2.5% on Friday and as Japanese, Chinese and Hong Kong markets trade lower
by over 1% apiece at the time of writing.
