Jurecka Defends Proposed Pension Reforms, CNB Holds Regular Non-MonPol Meeting

  • Labour and Social Affairs Minister Marian Jurecka warned that if the rise in pensions is not slowed down, it would have a significant impact on the state budget in the coming years. Jurecka is preparing for a parliamentary debate on his proposal to adjust the indexation of pensions. Lawmakers may discuss it as soon as next week, while the unpopular reforms are expected to be challenged in the Constitutional Court over procedural matters.
  • The Czech National Bank's Bank Board holds its weekly non-monetary policy meeting. Elsewhere, the central bank will publish changes to its balance sheet in the 10 days trough February 20.
