AUSSIE BONDS

ACGBs are just shy of session highs after catching up to the overnight bid in Aussie bond futures, with spill over from the marginal cheapening in U.S. Tsys seemingly capping the space for now.

  • Cash ACGBs run 6-8bp richer across the curve, with the 10- to 12-Year zone leading the way higher. YM is +6.0, experiencing a couple of blips above its overnight high but no meaningful breakthrough, while XM is +8.0, failing to break its own overnight high thus far.
  • EFPs have narrowed a little, with the 3-/10-Year box steepening, while Bills run 1-5 ticks richer through the reds.
  • A speech by RBNZ Gov Orr provided little by way of fresh insight and therefore nothing in the way of trans-Tasman impetus was observed.
  • Results from the auction of A$700mn of ACGB Apr-29 are due shortly, with the AOFM’s weekly issuance slate set to cross an hour later.
