Kazakh Output Struggling With Field and Moorings Outages

Oil output from Kazakhstan is below OPEC+ targets due to planned maintenance and unexpected problems

  • Kashagan underwent planned maintenance in June and July and was closely followed by maintenance at the Tengiz oil field.
  • In addition, two of three CPC loading moorings are now out of action after inspections reported damage to the buoyancy tanks. No timeline has been given to fix the moorings, but the capacity reduction has been reported to potentially last for at least a month.
  • Kazakhstan Energy Minister hopes to boost annual oil output to between 103m tons and 107m tons by 2025.
