Kazakhstan Declares "Terrorist Hotbeds" Neutralised

The National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NSC) says in a statement that the situation in the country has been stabilised and is under control, as "terrorist hotbeds" have been neutralised. The agency says that it has ensured that all strategic facilities and sites of weapons and ammunition storage are secure.

  • Separately, the spokesman for Kazakh President Tokayev noted that leaders of Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) member states will hold a special summit at 10:00 Moscow Time at the request of Kazakhstan. The Kremlin said that Russian President Putin will participate in the summit.
  • Kazakhstan's security forces have arrested 7,939 people as of yet. Speaking with the state television, Secretary of State Karin reiterated allegations of foreign involvement in the violent protests but refrained from providing any details.
