Kazakhstan Eyes Export Boost via Croatia’s Adria Pipeline

Kazakhstan and Croatia start negotiations to increase Kazakh oil exports via the Adria Pipeline, according to Interfax, citing Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry.

  • "Considering that 70% of Kazakh oil exports go to the European Union, Kazakhstan is ready to consider the possibility of expanding its exports to the EU and Croatia in particular and contribute to mitigating the global energy crisis," Akylbek Kamaldinov, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Croatia said in the release.
  • Croatia’s pipeline operator, JANAF, expressed interest in boosting exports of Kazakh oil to neighbouring Balkan and Eastern European states via the pipeline.
  • The design capacity of the Adria pipeline is 34m mtpa, while the installed capacity is 20m mt.
  • Of the total flows, 40% is consumed domestically in Croatia, while 60% is exported to neighbouring countries.
