Kazakhstan's Kashagan Field Operating at Half Capacity

Production at Kashagan oilfield, Kazakhstan’s largest, has slowed since August due to repairs Kazakh Energy Minister Bolat Akchulakov said today.

  • "Oil production at Kashagan amounted to 8.7 million tonnes or 17% below the target for January-September 2022. Production fell after a leak at the gas separation unit at the Bolashak plant in August," he said.
  • "The operator is carrying out repairs to restore production levels as soon as possible. Today, the field is operating at half of its capacity,"
  • He said earlier today, production at the field would resume to normal levels this month
