Kazkh Oil Flows Make First Transit on Aktau-Baku Route

Transportation of oil produced from Kazakhstan's Kashagan field across the Caspian Sea along the Aktau-Baku route has been launched for the first time according to the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company.

  • In total, 6,900 tons of crude oil were loaded into the first batch.
  • "The tanker, departing from the Kazakh port of Aktau, will deliver oil to the Azerbaijani Sangachal terminal," the company added.
  • Kazakhstan is searching for new ways to get its oil to market – bypassing its need to transit flows through Russia.
