Korea July CPI +0.2% M/M; +2.6% Y/Y

  • South Korea consumer price index (CPI) increased 0.2% m/m in July, wiping off the 0.1% m/m decrease last month, and rose 2.6% y/y, faster than the 2.4% y/y increase in June.
  • The core-core CPI increased 0.4% m/m in July, up from the 0.0% m/m last month, and rose 1.2% y/y, unchanged from the previous gain.
  • Prices for Food and non-alcoholic beverages rose 6.4% y/y in July, slightly down from the previous 6.5% y/y.
  • Prices for Housing, water, electricity,gas and other fuels increased 2.3% y/y, faster than last 1.2% y/y gain.
  • Prices for restaurants and hotels rose 2.4% y/y, up from the 2.2% y/y increase registered in June.
