Koruna Hits Worst Levels Since March, C/A Surplus Widens Slightly Less Than Expected

EUR/CZK has advanced today, printing its best levels since Mar 22. The pair last deals +0.040 at CZK23.828 as topside technical focus turns to Mar 17 high of CZK24.137. On the flip side, bears need a dip through Jun 6 low of CZK23.510 to regain control.

  • Czechia's current account surplus widened to CZK16.71bn in April from CZK11.27bn prior, slightly missing the +CZK17.50bn median estimate in a Bloomberg poll. Czechia's current account balance returned to a surplus at the beginning of this year and has stayed in positive territory since.
  • Taiwanese Foreign Minister Joseph Wu arrived in Czechia today. He will meet with Senate Speaker Milos Vystrcil, dine with Chamber of Deputies Speaker Marketa Pekarova Adamova and attend a security conference, where he will speak just after President Petr Pavel.
