Kurdistan Halts Some Power Output Amid Drone Attack

A drone struck the Khor Mor gas field in Sulaimaniya in the Kurdistan region, two sourced told Reuters, which led to a halt in some electricity generation, the electricity ministry said.

  • Gas deliveries to Kurdistan’s power plants were halted as a safety precaution after an attack on Khor Mor gas field which led to a 2.8GW decline in power generation, Amena Bakr said via X, citing the ministry.
  • Iraq has witnessed near-daily drone and rocket attacks by hardline militias since the Israel-Hamas war in October according to Reuters. Prior to this, no significant energy infrastructure has been hit.
