Labour Minister To Discuss Proposed Pension Reforms

  • Labour and Social Affairs Minister Marian Jurecka will brief the media on the proposed pension reforms at 10:30BST/11:30CEST. The reforms have been designed to curb budget deficits alongside the government's comprehensive fiscal consolidation package. The Chamber of Deputies will debate the planned changes to the pension system later this week after adopting a package of austerity measures in first reading last week.
  • Hospodarske Noviny reported that the government's fiscal consolidation package is about to undergo some changes, most importantly related to the property tax. The STAN party is pushing for keeping increased revenue from the property tax hike in municipal coffers.
