Lagarde: Shouldn't Be Overly Focused On Minor Changes To Policy Statement

ECB

Q: Why did you take out reference to sustained domestic prices and also unit labour costs?

  • A: Should not be overly focused on what is deleted or what stays in. There are some key statements that they want to keep as they underline the backbone. Are trying to be a little more simple in expression, to use fewer words "to be more normal". Don't pay too much attention to added / removed words. On the other hand if there is a block of text added or deleted and repeated - that is more significant.
Q: An ECB employee survey said some staff are unhappy with you as a leader.
  • A: Surveys are responded to around 60% - around 80% say they are happy to work at the ECB. Asked if recommend to a friend to work at ECB - north of 75%. What keeps me going is those answers - proud and honoured of the ECB staff.
