FRANCE: Last night, French newspaper Les Echos reported that the government
deficit is expected to widen significantly next year to E82.9bln. This year the
budget contains a forecast of E69.3bln but Les Echoes claims that this will be
E76.5bln.
- According to the report the deterioration is explained by tax cuts introduced
by Macron and larger contributions to EU next year.
- Note that the article says that the public sector deficit improves next year
as a percentage of GDP but not the State balance.
