Latam East Coast Diesel Imports Dominated by Russia in July

OIL PRODUCTS

Vortexa has observed Russian diesel flows headed to three dominant areas since the EU ban on imports – Turkey, East of Suez and Brazil.

  • The move into Brazil has created a domino impact and incentivised US Gulf suppliers to send higher diesel flows to Europe. They typically used to be Brazil’s biggest supplier.
  • In May, Brazil took 50% of its total diesel imports from Russia while the first eight days of July look to increase that share as Russian refineries return from maintenance season and additional barrels are expected to hit the water.
