LATAM: Mexico June Retail Sales, Argentina Trade Balance Data Due

  • Mexico retail sales data for June and Argentina July trade balance figures are the notable releases in LatAm on Tuesday. Elsewhere, Chile’s Treasury sells both peso & CPI-linked bonds, while Uruguay will publish the monthly survey of economists. In terms of speakers, Brazil Finance Minister Fernando Haddad grants lecture at BTG Pactual’s Macro Day 2024, followed by BCB’s Campos Neto.
  • The USD index sits broadly unchanged on the session, however, gold is well bid, with spot extending gains above $2,500/oz to hit new all-time highs around $2,525. There are no major US data releases, with just Canadian CPI on the docket. Both Fed's Bostic and Barr are set to speak, however neither are expected to address monetary policy.
