LATAM: Mexico Retail Sales Headlines Regional Calendar

  • In Mexico, April retail sales data is expected to register a 1.0% annual increase, up from -1.7% the month prior. Elsewhere, Colombia trade balance data for April and the Banamex economist survey for Mexico are expected. Weekly jobless claims data from the US, building permits and housing starts are set to cross. The central bank speaker slate is quieter, with just Fed's Kashkari set to speak ahead of the US cash equity open.
  • For global central banks, the Norges Bank remained on hold, before the SNB decided to cut rates by 25bps again. Indonesia’s central bank left its benchmark interest rate unchanged for a second straight meeting, while vowing to focus on the rupiah’s stability amid mounting pressures. The focus now shifts the Bank of England decision at the top of the hour.
