Late Equities Roundup: Extending Lows

  • Stocks are extending lows after the bell as trading desks continue to book profits as Treasuries cling to lows following this morning's strong PPI. Currently, S&P E-Minis trades down 36.5 points (-0.7%) at 5193.5, Nasdaq down 110.8 points (-0.7%) at 16058.03, DJIA down 284.52 points (-0.73%) at 38741.59.
  • Laggers: Real Estate and Utility sector shares continued to underperform in late trade, real estate investment trusts, particularly office and industrial REITS weighed on the former: Extra Space Storage -4.32%, Crown Castle -3.95%, Iron Mountain -3.38%. Independent power and water providers weighed on the Utility sector: AES -4.63%, American Water Works -2.39%.
  • Leading gainers: Energy and Communication Services sectors outperformed in late trade, equipment and services shares supported the Energy sector: Haliburton +2.56%, Schlumberger +1.36%, Baker Hughes +0.43%. interactive media and entertainment shares buoyed the latter: Google managing to gain 2.4%, Match Group -0.09%, Netflix -0.20%.
