Law & Justice Hold Polling Lead as They Prepare to Unveil Election Programme

  • DGP see the Law & Justice party unveiling their election programme next week, on September 9th. The ruling party continue to hold a lead in polling data, with IBRiS poll release this weekend showing Law & Justice with 33.4% vs. Civic Coalition’s 27.2%.
  • Rzeczpospolita cite economists as saying that Poland’s planned increase in public debt for next year and 2025 are surprisingly high, and the placing of debt in the domestic market could be challenging – making for a risk to Polish treasury yields.
  • Parkiet write that Poland is unlikely to face any shortages of either coal or natural gas across the coming heating season, with inventories on the rise for several consecutive months and gas storage at 94%.
  • Authorities are investigating a supposed hack of the train network after a falsified emergency stop signal was followed by the Russian national anthem and recording of speeches given by Russian President Putin late on Friday. The hack resulted in the stoppage of train traffic across large parts of the country, although different scenarios remain under investigation.
  • A survey of local analysts shows Polish equities are expected to follow a corrective trend, falling across the short-term, with heightened sensitivity around the banking sector and political risk.
