Libyan Protestors Threaten Mellitah Gas Complex

Libyan protestors have threated to stop gas pumping from the Mellitah complex – a joint venture between Libya’s National Oil Corporation and Italy’s Eni according to Reuters.

  • A potential stop of flows would disrupt the supply of gas through the Greenstream pipeline between Libya and Italy.
  • The group called Corruption Eradication Movement have given NOC officials till the end of Friday to see some of its officials removed from power and more job opportunities for locals.
  • It is not clear if the group is capable of mounting an effective protest.
  • Libyan protests have gained traction after a group shut the Sharara oil field last week leading to the NOC to declare a force majeure from the Zawiya terminal.
